A Teller user is a user type with access to tellering widgets on the dashboard for managing transactions and tills. Permissions for teller users include opening and closing tills, adding or removing cash, posting transactions without a till, and viewing background tasks. Access to tellering widgets can be granted by assigning transaction channel permissions or configuring usage rights for the default transaction channel. Transaction channels represent forms of payment, with Cash as the default channel in Mambu. Granting access to the tellering widget can be done by making the default transaction channel accessible to all users or assigning the teller user a role with access to the default channel.
A teller is a user with the user type Teller. The user type may be assigned to a user when creating or editing them. For more information, see Creating a User - User Rights section.
Teller users have access to tellering widgets on the dashboard that allow them to manage teller transactions and handle tills management.
A user cannot have both the Administrator and Teller user types assigned to them at the same time. Branch assignment is mandatory for all teller users.
Tellering permissions
The following permissions determine which tellering tasks a teller user is able to perform:
- Open Till (
OPEN_TILL
) - Close Till (
CLOSE_TILL
) - Add Cash (
ADD_CASH
) - Remove Cash (
REMOVE_CASH
) - Post Transaction without a Till (
POST_TRANSACTIONS_WITHOUT_OPENED_TILL
) - View Background Tasks (
VIEW_BACKGROUND_TASKS
)
For more information, see Permissions - Tellering.
Teller users rarely need to carry out actions that involve background tasks. However, if you do have a teller user that requires access to such actions, you must assign them the View Background Tasks (VIEW_BACKGROUND_TASKS
) permission. Actions that require background tasks include managing deposit and loan accounts, updating general ledger (GL) account closures, and generating balance sheet report.
Access to tellering dashboard widget
There are two tellering widgets that are accessible from the dashboard to teller users: Tellering and Tellers.
To grant a teller user access to these tellering widgets, you must either:
- Assign transaction channel permissions to the teller user.
- Configure the usage rights for the default transaction channel.
Assigning transaction channel permissions
You may grant teller users access to the tellering widgets by assigning any of the below transaction channel permissions to the user directly or through a role:
- View Transaction Channels (
VIEW_TRANSACTION_CHANNELS
) - Create Transaction Channels (
CREATE_TRANSACTION_CHANNELS
) - Edit Transaction Channels (
EDIT_TRANSACTION_CHANNELS
) - Delete Transaction Channels (
DELETE_TRANSACTION_CHANNELS
)
For more information about permission assignment, see Understanding Users, Roles, and Permissions.
Configuring the usage rights for the default transaction channel
A transaction channel represents a form of payment such as cash, SWIFT transfer, credit card repayment, or intrabank transfer. Mambu ships with Cash as the default transaction channel. For more information, see Transaction Channels.
To grant a teller user access to the tellering widget through access to the default transaction channels, you must either:
- Make the default transaction channel accessible to all users.
- Assign the teller user a role which has access to the default transaction channel.
For more information on managing transaction channel usage settings, see Transaction Channels - Usage Rights.
