You can set up an SMS gateway in Mambu to send manual or automatic SMS notifications to clients, groups, or credit officers. Mambu supports integration with specific SMS gateways, and if you wish to use another, you should contact support. Admin access is required to set up the gateway. First, create an account with a supported SMS gateway, such as Infobip or Twilio, by following their registration instructions. After registration, go to Administration > SMS > Settings in Mambu to configure the gateway. Select your SMS gateway from the dropdown, fill in the required fields, and save changes. Once set up, a Notifications tab will appear, allowing you to send messages. It is advisable to test the functionality using a sandbox environment before launching live campaigns. Required fields include base URL, account username, password, and phone number for the chosen SMS gateway.
You may set up an SMS gateway to send manual or automatic SMS notifications to your individual clients, groups, or credit officers.
Mambu supports full integration with Twilio and Infobip as SMS gateways. If you would like to integrate with another SMS gateway, please contact us through Mambu Support.
To set up an SMS gateway, you must be an admin. For more information, see Creating a User - Type.
Creating an SMS gateway account
The first step is to create an account with an SMS gateway.
The two SMS gateways we support are Twilio and Infobip. Visit the website of the SMS gateway you would like to use and follow the instructions on their website to set up an account.
Setting up your SMS gateway in Mambu
After registering with a supported SMS gateway, set it up in Mambu.

To setup your SMS gateway in Mambu:
- On the main menu, go to Administration > SMS > Settings. The Settings tab is only visible to admins.
- Using the SMS Gateway dropdown, select the SMS gateway you want to use.
- Enter all the necessary information. See below for more information on the form fields.
- Select Save Changes.
After you set up your SMS gateway, a Notifications tab will appear next to the Settings tab under Administration > SMS.
The SMS gateway is now activated and you can start sending messages to your individual clients, groups, or credit officers. We recommend running campaigns internally using a sandbox to test the functionality before going live.
